NYC Very Warm Summer Continues

Good late morning everyone. Very warm conditions have returned today, as well as the risk of scattered storms throughout this period. We're into this very warm and humid pattern, mixed with a few dry and warm days, before the heat returns; and I think we hold onto this for quite some time.

For today, sunny skies, very warm, and dry conditions rule this morning. We have some moisture up to our north and sliding to the ESE and fizzling out. Most of the shower/thunderstorm action the Northeast experiences, will be focused on the late afternoon. Highs today in the upper 80's to low 90's.

With the thunderstorm potential this afternoon/evening, most of that energy will be slipping off to our west. However, we could see some action drift our way, especially for the NYC/Nassau Country area. This is not written in stone and once again anything that does form will be individual cells/scattered clusters, so the best we can do is watch the sky and watch the radar to see what pops.

Any storms that do form will be capable of frequent lightning, strong winds, torrential rain, and hail. This means you should treat any approaching storm with respect and take proper precautions.

Tomorrow, we rinse and repeat with sunshine, upper 80's to low 90's, and the chance of scattered thunderstorms. As far as the humidity is concerned, it was looking as if it crept up in the afternoon, but our light northerly flow will be dominant, keeping things very warm/hot but relatively dry for this time of year. Once again, any storms that do form will be capable of nearing severe limits on a local scale.

Our 4th of July is holding strong, with sunny skies, increased humidity, and upper 80's to low 90's. I'm keeping a very slight chance of storms in the forecast, but it seems as if the moisture creeping in holds off until later at night. That moisture will probably come in the form of fog; so for you boaters out there, be careful if you're taking a night excursion to see the fireworks. The fog holds off, but if you stay out late to celebrate, you can find yourself in a bad spot after midnight.

We may start off foggy on Friday, but sun and heat will break things up by mid to late morning. That'll be the precursor for a very warm and very humid day, with upper 80's and oppressive conditions.

The continuation of juicy and very warm conditions will help fuel the chance of more numerous showers and storms on Saturday as our front nears. We do upper 80's to low 90's and very humid to start the weekend, and expect a large swath of severe storm watch to be issued for parts of the Northeast.

We begin to dry out humidity-wise on Sunday, but we keep the threat of a shower or storm in the forecast as that moisture gets wrung out and the sun works the atmosphere. Anything will be widely scattered in nature, and for the most part it'll be a nice day; highs in the mid 80's and relatively comfortable.
