Oldest bridge in Australia.
Today i bring to you some history of the oldest bridge in Australia being a large stone arch bridge. This bridge spaning the Coal river is to be found in the beautiful little town of Richmond Tasmania. The first stone for the bridge was laid on 11 December 1823 with construction continueing until 1825 using convict labour.
The bridge was built using sandstone from butchers hill. Ten years it had the record of the longest span of any bridge in Australia. This bridge is still in full use today. Toatal length is 41m and it's width is 7.2m.

It's a cool bridge, I have been to this bridge and the big church up the street, cheers.
I walked up to that church to and have some photos i want to post up sometime.
And with a little bit of maintaining it will outlast many modern bridges! Thanks for sharing...very cool bridge!
