Beginning Mom's Breastfeeding Journey

So it become quite clear that Kai is no a fan of sharing Mom time while nursing. I get it, we had a few goes and perhaps things may change in the future? Though for now it's all about honoring his time and we both feel that that's the most important thing for us to pay attention to. Respect to the little man.

Jamie's breast feeding journey has been as challenging as rewarding. It's been a lot of trial and error, watching closely to the signs and reading other mothers experiences. Every baby is unique of course, as well as every boob and there is no one way for all. We had a plan, adjusted to suit Kai's needs and above all made sure our baby boy was happy, healthy and fed.

There's a lot of stigma we feel and unnecessary pressure on Mother's to meet other people's expectations and recommendations. We feel that just adds to what can be an already stressful, tiring and unsure time. Especially for first time parents. Reading up on all the nutritional and nurturing benefits of the breast feeding bond definitely helped us to stay focused on why we were doing it.

It's a huge adjustment and we get that not all parents have the time, support or belief in making it work. Be open to pumping if you have to and really if you ever feel like giving up, just remember that it all gets easier. In summary our advice for those mothers who are determined to breast feed is to stick with it.
