There are two parts in the brain: the conscious part and the unconscious part. The conscious part in an adult's brain takes up around 10% and the unconscious part about an amazing 90%. The conscious part is good at words and logic, while the unconscious part uses pictures (that is why dreams are usually like watching a movie).
Learning by using the conscious brain is slow, because it can't handle multi-tasks and is ineffective. For instance, please try to teach how to tie shoelaces on a blackboard. Also, please try to sing a song while doing sums. But the unconscious part has limitless memory and is good at multi-tasks. That's why people can drive a car, talk on the phone, breathe, get heart beats at the same time. To be truly effective, people have to push themselves to use the unconscious brain more. How can this be done?
