My Three Favorite Fruits For Brain Health And The Prevention Of Dementia By Martin Reilly

In this post we’re talking about delicious sweet tasting foods that will help you give your brain a boost.

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking, ‘sweet’ and ‘brain health’ don’t exactly go hand in hand. If you’ve been doing your reading, you know that sugar is not part of the recipe for a strong brain. In fact, if anything, sugar will take away from your brain performance, leading you down a path to mental decline and possible disease.

This said, we’re not here to talk about plain table sugar. Instead, we’re focusing on fruit.
Fruit is Mother Nature’s candy and is chalk full of nutrients that your brain needs to function optimally.

As long as you keep your serving size reasonable, there is no reason not to include fruit in your day. In fact, I strongly recommend it to all I see who are looking to optimize their memory, cognitive processing, and prevent age-related brain decline.

I’m here to share with you my top favorite fruits for brain health. While there’s no question that all fruits are going to provide you with a great deal of health protection and are great options to include in your menu, there are certain fruits that do tend to stand out above the rest.

Those are the ones we’re going to discuss.

So without further delay, here are my top three picks.

1.Avocado

The first fruit is one that isn’t actually all that sweet, but must not be overlooked just the same. The avocado is a delicious fruit that’s rich in fiber and actually very low in sugar.
The reason being because it’s rich in healthy fats instead.

Avocado contains great fat soluble vitamins as well, which is what really gives it the brain power boosting benefits it holds. It contains a good dose of vitamin E, which can help to reduce your risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

On top of that, vitamin E is also great for promoting healthy skin, hair, and nails, so that’s another reason you’ll want to be taking it in.

As avocado is slightly higher in calories due to the higher fat nature of it, just do be sure that you are watching the total serving size you eat to keep your calorie intake in check.

2.Strawberries

Strawberries are a delicious sweet berry that is relatively low in calories. At a mere 50 calories per cup, you have to eat a lot of these for them to amount to anything.

What’s more is that strawberries are loaded with powerful antioxidants that will help to protect against free radical damage, which is basically the ‘rust’ of the body.

When free radical damage is left to occur, a process of oxidization occurs and this wears down your body, creating damage that then has to be repaired – or if it isn’t, will lead to disease.

Avoiding oxidization is a key must-do for optimal health, so something you can’t afford to overlook.

Strawberries will greatly help you do just that.

3.Blueberries

Finally, the last great fruit on my list of brain boosters is blueberries. These have been dubbed the ‘brainberry’ for a long time and for good reason: the antioxidants they contain are powerful for fending off Alzheimer’s disease and the natural decline in mental cognition that tends to happen with aging.

Blueberries give you an extra dose of protection against brain problems, so they are one berry you’ll definitely want to be getting into the picture for all around better health.

So there you have your line-up of three great fruits that will help you take your brain health to the next level. Start trying to include at least one of these in your diet every single day and it won’t be long before you are noticing a dramatic difference in your health.
