Steemsports presents: Badou 'The Ripper' Jack vs James 'Chunky' DeGale

SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE UNIFICATION

We have a pugilist bout at 168 pounds where two kings will slug it to out to unify the WBC and IBF super middleweight belts!

Fighter Profile: James 'Chunky' DeGale

James 'Chunky' DeGale is the former 2008 Olympics Boxing Gold Medalist, and the current IBF super middleweight champion. He is a long and lanky puncher with a very accurate left straight; he is very precise with his power shots and can deliver devastating body blows with help from his counter southpaw stance. He was a prolific knockout artist when starting his professional career, but he has settled into the more technical aspects of his game and can last for 12 rounds easily.

He is great at pushing the pace and has shown to grow stronger in the later round. His past few career wins show he is ready for a step up; the performance James had against the crafty veteran Andre Dirrell gave him a name in the states and has escalated him to a Barclay's center fight night main event! This will only be James' third fight in the states, so expect his name to grow after this one!

Fighter Profile: Badou 'The Ripper' Jack

Badou 'The Ripper' Jack is a Mayweather camp staple, and a catalyst for chaos in the ring. He is a bullish brawler that loves to engage the clinch and get somewhat dirty with rabbit punching and all sorts of dastardly techniques. He is everything the Mayweather camp does not stand for, but Floyd stands with his fighter as he sees much potential in his newly crowned champion.

A common opponent between Jack and his upcoming opponent are in fact former champion Andre Dirrell, both dismantled him in hard fought 24 rounds combined...but a lot can be taken from the energy sapped and technique betrayed in both fights. Jack is in his prime at the age of 33, and although he is known more so for controversial decisions than anything else, he is the IBF champion and he will look to defend his red belt!

The Matchup & Prediction

We have a good fight here between two organizational champions. Super middleweight has been somewhat of a mess since Andre Ward mixed things up in moving up, but we have a shark at middleweight in Gennady Golovkin who may make a good opponent for either of these two men down the road.

Objectively the WBC belt is more coveted, and at this point, Badou Jack is arguably the more reputable champion with the green belt around his waist and a win over the only man to defeat James DeGale...the legendary bruiser George Groves. We have a US vs UK battle in the middle of New York: The former gold medalist from the UK will be looking to unify two titles...the American will look to do the same in his home turf.

James DeGale has grown immensely over the tenure of his career, and his last three performances have earned him a pound for pound spot globally along with a title. We will see James win over the crowd; expect a drawn out battle of attrition, with the judge's cards ringing unanimously.

James DeGale: Unanimous Decision
