Tevin Famer 30-4-1 6KOs successfully retained his IBF super featherweight world title for the forth time, with a unanimous points decision victory over mandatory title challenger Guillaume Frenois 46-2-1 12KOs. The Judges scored the fight 116-111 twice, with the third judge scoring it by a larger margin of 119-108, all in favour of the champ.
The fight was expected to go the distance from the beginning as neither man possesses huge amount of knockout power, a fact that is evident when looking at their records. All expectations were met, as the fight turned into a tactical chess style match, sections of the crowd showed their disapproval for the lack of action at end of the bout with a chorus of boos.
Next up for Farmer could be a potential unification fight with WBA super featherweight world title holder Gervonte (the tank) Davis, a fight that both fighters and their promotional teams have made reference to on multiple occasions. Hopefully both teams can agree mutually beneficial terms and give the fans the fight that we really want to see.
