On the under card of Joshua vs Ruiz jr, this was arguably the biggest fight in female boxing, as unified champ Katie Taylor looked to add the final belt to her ever growing collection and become undisputed. Her opponent was the tough game Dephine Persoon(WBC champ), who before the fight was given little to no chance of winning.

In what was an amazing hard fought close affair, a fight that was fight of the night, the final bell saw Taylor's hand raised in victory in a somewhat controversial decision that saw the champion win on two score cards 95-94 and draw on the third 95-95, becoming only the third undisputed female boxing champion in history.

The decision was wrong, but is the result really controversial when the outcome is expected. Persoon most definitely won a close fight, but Taylor is the face of female boxing and is often given credit for being as good as her male counterparts. She is generating huge amounts of interest and money, so a loss would have been devastating for her, but even more devastating for the sport of female boxing. The bout was always going to go in Taylor's favourite if it was even slightly close. A Sad state of affairs, but true. Taylor has been an outlier since her days as an amateur boxer paving the way for other female boxers. It was her dream and drive to win an Olympic medal that saw the sport introduced at the london Olympics, she won gold.

The real undisputed champion walked from the arena understandable very upset and in floods of tears. It is little consolation, but hopefully Taylor grants Persoon a rematch and at the very least, she can do financially very well.
