Jean Pascal VS. Marcus Browne

Jean Pascal [34-6-1 20KOs] proved to his many sceptics that there is some fight in the old dog yet, when he pulled of a shocking upset by beating former US Olympian and rising light heavyweight prospect Marcus Browne [23-1 16KOs] at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New york. This was Browne's first defeat since entering the paid ranks.

In what turned out to be an exciting encounter, which most expected to be a one-sided affair, Pascal knocked the younger Browne to the canvas three times, once in the fourth and twice in the seventh, en route to an eighth round victory via a technical decision when an accidental clash of heads opened up a bad cut over Browne's left eye.

The fight was now in the hands of the judges, and all three scored unanimously in favour of Pascal 75-74, The knock-downs really made the difference in this fight and were the deciding factor. Browne seemed to be in charge in the most parts of the fight only to lose his lead through being put down. This puts Pascal in a prime position to get one more shot at a title as he is now the Interim WBA world champion.
