Devon Alexander the Great-t-t...

The Gatekeepers

Once two of the sports brightness stars, these two aging warriors have in recent years become the gatekeepers for a shot at a world title. Both men still possess the will and ability to regain the coveted status of world champion, but unfortunately for them, they both ply their trade in a division that is overflowing with men who possess that same will and that same talent, just in younger bodies. If they competed in almost any other division, this fight would most likely be a unification bout and not a bout to decide who gets to continue their career.

The two fighters now find themselves at a crossroads, both being the others gatekeeper, the victor will undoubtedly be propelled towards that dream of one more world title shot, while the defeated will either fade gracefully into retirement or like most boxers who can't give up that dream, fight on, until they can fight no more.

Last time out, Alexander fought Victor Ortiz, a fight that ended in a draw. A lot of those watching at ringside and at home thought that Devon was a clear winner, even Devon himself said of the fight "I think everybody knows that I won convincingly,"

Berto has been on a rollercoaster of a ride recently, a lopsided loss to Floyd Mayweather was followed by a revenge victory over Victor Ortiz in a rematch, which was then followed by a loss to shawn porter, but that is to be expected when your mixing it with such a high calibre of opponent. He's hoping to regain some stability with this fight and get back on the winning path.

This is a 50/50 fight and could go either way, but I'm personally leaning towards a points victory in favour of Devon Alexander, but don't put too much stock in my prediction, as they have been way off the mark as of late. Who do you think will win and why?

The referee is ready, the judges are ready, and the fighters are in the ring... and now fight fans....
