Good luck to you, I would never have wanted to true at 40 or 50 I was a workaholic then, but now the idea of retiring at 60 Looks very appealing to me, I do miss my traveling days I must admit, but I will still find things to keep my busy without globetrotting :)
I will tell you what. I have been to every State in the union except for Hawaii (can you believe it???) and there is enough right here to keep you busy and interested. One of the most fun trips I ever did was caravanning out West from NY to California and OMG, it was a two-month trip, but, terribly amazing. We were all young and stupid and stopped at every historical sign, overlook and took detours that looked pretty. That was before the day of GPS, so there was always a crumpled map on the floorboards of the car.
We had campers, tents, and sleeping bags. It was a real vagabond moment. Many of us worked with Habitat that time and the Vanagon was something they created for people that were willing to travel. Oh, yes. All that fun and no money too. LOL
I wouldn't trade it for the world. Not even the not so great times. :)
Yes you are right there is so much to see in this country not flying is not really a problem at all, and I hope to be able to see more of it in the coming years.
I am not sure Lulu would be up for it, but I would love to buy an RV and just cruise the country for a year or 5
That is what I am talking!!! I am looking for one right now. I had to weigh the fact that so many of the campgrounds are expensive now to stay in, but, once I get a little further West, I always use the places built by the Army Corps of Engineers. They used to be free, but, I wonder if they charge to stay in them now. They are always amazing places.
One of the first trips I hope to do when the day of freedom arrives is to go out to Bryce Canyon in Utah. OMG!! If you have never been there, it is amazing! Grand Canyon is right near there and that place I have been to about 25 times (I lived in Arizona for two years) and it never photographs as beautiful as it really is. So, the challenge is out there for me to make it happen this time. As long as you are there, the Hoover Dam is right up the road. Another amazing adventure.. and Las Vegas right beyond there. I don't gamble, but, the town is a worthy venture. It is a fun town!

Oh! Did I say Alaska? RV and that trip is 3 months of wonder and awesomeness!
I have heard of Bryce Canyn but never been there it’s a place I would love to visit I do enjoy getting city shots but the magesty of nature is what I would much rather be seeing
