Happy Big Rock Day!
They are melting out
of their hibernation.
When boulders see
themselves reflecting
in the water, they
know it's springtime
in the north.
Many different snow caps.
Erratic's left from
the last ice age.
Some have been moved
to the side when the
roads were built.
These are boulders
by the Kenai river, near
the town of Sterling
Alaska.
Many are used to
define parking areas
and as blockers in
front of buildings.
This was a drive-by boulder!
Clicking the photos makes them bigger
Click again zooms them in.
Show us your boulders
Large rocks are needed
roll them on over.
Must be your own photos!
Boulder location would be
great to know if possible.
Drop a link to your
boulder below so we
don't miss your post!

You have some beautiful, snowy boulders there! Very nice :-)
I'm going to have to enter this next time. We have some serious boulders in my area.
Hello @willowwisp will be looking forward
to your serious boulders! :-)
Thank you very much @keithboone! They are
melting out fast! Subject to maybe another
dusting, ya just never know! :-)
Thank you so much for the boulder compliments @keithboone! :-)
Am late in responding, the words were hidden behind some rocks lol
wow @shasta, gorgeous post!
Thank you so much @dddonnna! Good to see you! :-)
Howdy there shasta! what a great bunch of big ass rock photos! Really impressive. And plus spring is on it's way so you got that goin for ya too!
Good evening @janton! Big ones huh lol
Spring can happen fast at times, into the
40's today, snow is mushy! :-)
Howdy tonight shasta! so you are saying that Springime up there is 40 degree weather?
It can vary from hour to hour, day by day. Above that
32 deg is nice for making liquid water, 40 can feel hot
in the sun. Spring on the way with snow shrinking
and open water on the rivers that were frozen over.
They say there is over 2000 words for the different
kinds of snow lol
Howdy shasta! oh so you guys have a more relaxed measure for what spring temperatures are, anything over 40 degrees! lol. How long does spring and summer usually last?
That is a good question, hello @janton! :-)
It changes so much at times from day to day
year to year. Some summers are longer, hotter
and dryer. The last few been real wet. Lots of rain.
Everything is always changing. Summer might last
to mid Sept and sometimes into Oct. It's not
winter again till the snow sticks after Halloween.
It depends what we call summer and winter haha
Sometimes ya don't wanna know what we call it lol
Howdy today shasta! oh that's interesting, I didn't think there would
be such variables in the weather up there. Down here the weather
patterns are pretty well set but I guess that would be boring for
you all! lol. What's on the agenda for this weekend? Or do you do
anything different than during the week?
Its the weekend??? lol
Oh oh
So glad to see them coming out of hibernation!
It sure is! Hope to find some new ones soon lol
My favorites are the Sisters, but those roads, trails
are not open yet! :-)
These boulders look like big bears pretending to be rocks! So, you’ve got to be careful as they can suddenly get up and turn around!
