Sunday ... Bloody Sunday ... It Bouldersunday on bloody Sunday
Hello all and welcome to my post. Did you like the Post title? It's kind of a misnomer but not. It is Sunday, and I did get a picture of a boulder on Sunday for #bouldersunday. It was also a blood wolf moon eclipse day today. So a bloody Sunday for us in Alaska. Not only was it a blood moon, but there was an unfortunate accident on our way out to look for the moon. It was partly overcast around us, well mostly over cast at our house so we had to go for a drive. The unfortunate part was a moose kill accident. No ambulance so that means no real bad injuries, truck won this one, moose lost, it does not always end that way, unfortunate for all involved.
So lets start with the Boulder: This was taken down at Millers Landing in Sterling Alaska.
Not a very big boulder, but a boulder it would take more than one average man to move it. Bigger than a rock, and a stone, a pebble. I wonder what is bigger?,a rock?, or a stone? I know a pebble is bigger than a grain of sand, and smaller than a rock and or a stone, but I am not real sure which is bigger, the rock or the stone? Guess it is not real important.
Okay the moon shot. I am still pretty new to photography, outside of just the average everyday point and click, and it was cold. I mean it was bitter cold 5 degrees Fahrenheit, that's minus 15 degrees for most of the rest of the world. To long of an exposure, you can see how far the stars moved and the moon in only 30 secs. If it was not so cold and if the clouds would not have kept getting in the way, I would have done some setting adjustments and tried a few other settings, but that was pretty much the longest the moon was not covered with clouds. So even though as a picture it was a failure it was still a learning experience and it was still part of the day.
So the settings were ISO 3200,f-stop 5.6, 30 second exposure. So way way to long, still it does sort of show the red moon during the eclipse. This was taken at 8:12 PM AKST on 1-20-2019. (AKST=Alaska standard time)
Now the red herring moose part of the title, Well actually not a red herring, but a red lit moose, sometimes it was green or blue or purple, the Kenai National Wildlife Center has some of those lights that change color. So I have a couple of different color of a statuesque moose. So this post also fits in with #moosemonday. Not super clear but not as blurry as the moon, like I said it was cold it was real cold.
Another one of those days were we just sort of went. We got lucky on the moon find, It may have been better sky conditions to the south, but that would have been unlikely, and I am not sure where we would have stopped to get pictures, plus where we did stop has that cool frozen moose statute.
