Boulder Sunday - The Reward Mine
What better place to go looking for boulders than a mine? This is the Reward Mine in Inyo County, California.
It was a famous gold mine that also produced many different rare minerals like linartie. Long ago abandoned it then became a hot spot for mineral collectors who were looking for rare minerals the miners tossed aside. Here is some chrysocolla in a 2' boulder.
Here is a view back down the mountain looking west towards the snow capped Sierra Nevadas. The views alone are worth coming out to these remote locations.
Where ever you find yourself, pour yourself one for me and make it a strong one!

What a beautiful Boulder! That view is pretty darn incredible. Seems like a great place to go looking for rocks!
The boulder was nice. I broke it up and grabbed the chrysocolla, but those views really made the trip. It's amazing the amount of natural beauty out there.

Well, the Global Hawk could carry some good sized boulders, but other than that I think you are out of luck. Side story, I worked on the Global Hawk building in Guam many years ago. Pretty incredible. You just have to break the boulders up on site into small pieces to carry down the mountain. Even that becomes a pain in the ass though when your bags and buckets are full and you're sliding on loose rock. Maybe a drone could drag a bag down??
