Evolving Curation Trails and Bot Design - Leveraging Off of Human Curation (Design Proposal)

in #bots8 years ago

It has been fun to watch the human and bot curation game advance over the past month. Voting trails have become a 'norm', and several users have designed their own 'smart bots'.

Many of the good voting algorithms pick good human curators, and upvote based on what the humans are voting on. Better human creation leads to better bot curation. The problem with human curators though - is that they don't always vote on 'good' content. They vote on quite a bit of 'not so good' content too.

Here is a design for an upvote bot (or curation trail) that would take the 'best' from the human curtators, while ignoring the rest:

  • Define pairs or groups of human curators
  • Scan the posts to see if every human curator in a pair/group has upvoted
  • If so: upvote
  • Monitor the voting to remove pairs/groups that all seem to be voting together

This is a lot more advanced than the "single human" voting bots that exist today, and would allow the voting bots to detect a lot more good content, while still allowing humans to be, well.. human.

(Anyone in the community is welcome to use this design however they wish.)

Simple, effective. Thumbs up.

Simple and straight to the point: to avoid mistakes, just duplicate the sources :)

That's an interesting concept. Within the SteemTrail curation, some of us were coordinating a lot at the start - and only upvoting from our topic-focused curation to the main SteemTrail when two or more of us agreed on the post. But with people on and off Steemit at different times, posts would miss out before their 24-hour payoff. So after we got to know each other and our goals, we simplified it so any one person can upvote and send the post up to the SteemTrail. Human coordination takes time and effort that doesn't meet the 24-hour payout rush very well, in a reliable way, day after day. So your approach might be a real improvement.

What if the human was really a bot that thought it was a human? LOL
I'm being silly. I actually love the idea of two heads are better than one for a smarter bot. Unfortunately I'm not a dev but I am certain someone will play around with the idea soon :)

Haha, I think we already have one of those: @scammymcspambot :)

Interesting theory. Two human is a company but plus one bot is it a crowd? :-)

Nice. If anybody wants to implement this bot, make sure to contact me - I'd love to consult on it. There would be some fun and deep math at the bottom of this.

I think I'm allergic to math. LOL
