Palm trees are magnificent, we have these where I live @adalger.
Always green with protection of their own certain, small birds collect the fine hairs for nesting material.
Hi there @joansteward ;) .. you are living in africa, right ? Are you close to the mediterrarean sea ? .. I can try to find a nice falm tree that you might not now for my next post ^^
.. I believe those hairs make an ecsellent material for a nest .. when I touched those they felt quite strong, also I did not rip one out to test it in more detail ..
Yes I live in South Africa on the East Coast which is the Indian Ocean in a sub-tropical region that has an abundance of Palm trees in various shapes and sizes.
Nesting material for the birds or building small nests higher up in the cracks of the palm, using the fibers of the tree rearranged into small nest for smaller birds.
