Mother Night, Kurt Vonnegut. First Edition.

Kurt Vonnegut probably needs no introduction. His career spanned over 50 years, and included 14 novels, three short story collections, five plays, and five works of non-fiction. His writing his wryly satirical, often using postmodern techniques and fantasy to highlight the horrors and ironies of 20th century life. Slaughterhouse-Five, published in 1969, is his best known and best selling work, and, with its anti-war and deeply human message, continues to resonate.

Mother Night is Vonnegut's third novel, published in 1962. It is meta-fictional plot, narrated by a certain Howard W. Campbell, a playwright and Nazi propagandist, who is writing his memoirs while awaiting trial for war crimes in an Israeli prison. This is the first hardcover edition, with a creepily unique dust jacket:
