Dark Carnival, Ray Bradbury. First Edition.

Here's a big one. Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) was an American author most known for his 1953 dystopian classic Fahrenheit 451. He wrote in a variety of genres, including fantasy, science fiction, horror and mystery fiction. I highly recommend his work, particularly The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. The latter was one of the first novels I read, and the first in which I felt the true magic of literature. Upon his death in 2012, On his death in 2012, The New York Times called Bradbury "the writer most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into the literary mainstream".

Dark Carnival was Bradbury's first published book, a collection of short stories. It was published by the famous Arkham House in 1947, in a limited run of only 3,112 copies. All but six of the stories had been printed elsewhere, but Bradbury significantly revised the text. This is the scarce first printing:

WOW! Towards the end of his life, Bradbury became a patriot speaking out about the government corruption and lies and stuff. I bet this rare copy of his first book goes for quad digits.

Hey what did that H.P. Lovecraft book end up selling for?

@hippie-witha-gun The Lovecraft went for around $100 I think. Those first British editions aren't quite as rare as the first Americans....

Really thats it!? WOW I would of thought it would of sold for a lot more.
