Book News of the Day – Ernest Hemingway story from 1956 to be published for the first time

in #books6 years ago

As a Hemingway fan, this comes as a welcome surprise! A Hemingway story, entitled A Room in the Garden and penned in 1956, is going to be published in the summer issue of The Strand literary magazine. The story takes place during the Second World War, narrated by a young soldier in the Ritz Hotel who, along with his fellow soldiers, "drink, quote Baudelaire and debate 'the dirty trade of war'." The story remained unpublished at the time of Hemingway's death and, along with several others, has been housed in the Library of Congress and the John F. Kennedy Library.

Here's a link to a Guardian article detailing the news: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/aug/02/ernest-hemingway-story-published-first-time-a-room-on-the-garden-side
