Important Books I Think Everyone Should Read #3: The Alphabet Versus The Goddess

Greetings, Steemians! It's time for another installment of: important books I think everyone should read. My previous two recommendations were A People's History of the United States and The Center Cannot Hold. Today I recommend: The Alphabet Versus the Goddess, by Leonard Shlain.

This book is one of my all-time favorites, and is remarkably difficult to summarize, lol. So I'll just say:

If you want to understand patriarchy better,
If you want to understand religion better,
If you want to understand society better,
If you want to understand neurology better,
If you want to understand history better, read this book.

Tl;dr: abstract alphabet (as opposed to hieroglyphs) literacy has changed the structure of our brains and made the left/linear more dominant, instead of the right/holistic. This has altered human history and the way we think and see the world.

That sounds wild, right? Read this book!!! It will blow your mind.
