The Only Difference Between The Successful and The Failures
A summary and review of the 10X Rule by Grant Cardone.
What defines a successful person from a failure? Is it the cars they drive? The house they live in? The job they work? These are byproducts of a crucial factor that many overlook.
So what exactly is this factor? The 10X rule.
The 10X rule has do with the amount of effort someone perceives it takes to be successful. The rule is simple, take the effort you thought something took and times it by ten. If someone here on steemit told you it took 5 posts a week of great content, do 50 a week. Now you might be saying "holy crap this guy is insane!" and it is! But it's to get your thinking straight. You get the chance to ask better quality questions. What would it take to make 50 great quality content steemit posts a week? Then execute on the first few thoughts to come to mind. It doesn't have to be perfect and starting out it never will be anywhere close, but what this does is it takes you out of a paralysis of overthinking things and acting on your goals. Even if you don't get out 50 a week, let's say you got out 37. Good! You got out 37. take stock, devise your next thoughts and act on them to improve. The goal here is to get better with frequency.
This rule is vital for success because it's central to hitting your goals. Stuff goes wrong all the time. You need that extra activity buffer to offset that contraction. So you're probably thinking at this point "Yeah work hard blah blah blah, this isn't anything I haven't heard before" and it isn't, so why aren't you at the top right now? Can you tell me what it takes to lose weight? everyone knows how but most don't do it. You have to learn how to get out of your own way in order to be successful. But how are you getting in your own way? Sometimes it's the people you're around. They say you are he average of the 5 people you hang with most. If you can't find those people, use the internet and follow their content (If you want one to start follow Grant on Twitter, YouTube, and/or FaceBook).
Truth is that there's no shortage of success in this world. Millions of dollars are printed around the world everyday and there's no shortage of wealth. The 10X mindset allows you to take more of whats on the table everyday and take advantage of boundless opportunities that are out there everyday. Also own up to everything you do or don't do. Assume control of your situations and never blame or make excuses. If you messed up, own up and move forward. stagnating puts you back into non-movement which is a place you never want to be. Speaking of a place you don't want to be, go ahead and also add 'average' to that list. You never want to be average. No one ever remembers the average, just the greats.
Go all in and expand, but never contracting. Even in situations like what we experienced in 2009, you should be always expanding and have so much going on that something like that should never hurt you. If you fear certain things, it's an indicator that your going in the right direction. Don't want to make that steemit post? Good, that means you should do it. Push past that fear because, again, you are your own worst enemy. Most of what happens in your life happens not too you, but because of you. I might touch some nerves with this next statement, but if you're not meeting your goals it's because of two things: a.) You're not doing enough actions or b.) you suck and your not learning from your actions. People will be critical of you. It's inevitable. Almost all of your friends want you to do well, but not to well.
Now why's that?
It reminds them of their own insecurities and failures. They'll put you down so they don't feel bad. Don't believe me? Go to some of your friends and tell them all the good things that has happened in your life and then ask what they have been doing. Their response will tell you a million words. Again the 5 people you hang around with are the average of who you are. Keep these toxic people at arms reach. Make friends slowly and dump them fast if they don't turn out to be who you thought they were. You want to be around those who will support your goals no matter how large.
So how can you get started with the 10X rule?
First, pick up the book here
Second, think of the areas where you can apply these concepts and execute on them and go all in. Burn the ships and run at this as if your life depended on it, because it does.
Review:
I thought this book was fantastic. The advice is coming straight from Grant's life and career as a serial entrepreneur. He has a lot of experience and even if you're not in sales or business, you can learn a lot from this book alone that will completely change how you operate on a daily basis. The more you swing the more you get lucky, so why not swing for the fences every time if you have unlimited swings.
So here's what's up guys. I want you to try this and show this post some love. The message is positive and I want it to reach as many people as possible (Heck if it can somehow reach back to Grant that would be awesome!). Follow me for more content, I have a few more book reviews coming up on enhancing your productivity by another experienced person who knows his stuff and will change how you do things.
As Grant would say "Stay great, because nothing else pays"
