[Book Review] Bunker Core (Core Control Book 1)
I read a lot. Like, a lot. I definitely get my money's worth out of Amazon's Kindle Unlimited. So I thought it would be fun to start reviewing the books I read. Mostly sci-fi/fantasy genre fiction, so don't be disappointed if you don't find abstruse prose in the demesne of my literary sights. See how annoying that is?
These reviews are not about the plot of the story. I guess they are meta-reviews about whether the book is worth reading or not. It's more about the experience of reading the book rather than the story itself.

Dungeon Core, Post-apocalyptic style. Come for the mutants, stay for the dystopian adventure!
This is back to one of my favorite sub-sub-genres, the dungeon core litRPG.
This time it's post-apocalypse with rogue nanobots mutating and killing everything in reach.
Wynne wakes up with no memories but fairly quickly gets into trouble on the global stage.
The litRPG elements are actually pretty light. There's some stuff about subroutines and circuits, but it's pretty easy to gloss over entirely unlike a lot of litRPG. I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing in this instance.
There are some inconsistencies. A couple characters understand English, but most don't. And there doesn't seem to be any cultural traditions that would explain the discrepancy.
The larger backdrop of the world isn't explored very well in this book, but that might be waiting for a future volume.
Still, the pacing is good and the action is engaging.
Overall rating: Decent, looking forward to the next volume.
