BOOK REVIEW: FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY’s NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND (Pevear/Volokhonsky)

in #books6 years ago

This book has a profound negative energy that captures my attention. It reminds me of some of my favorite nihilistic music like Daughters (the grindcore/industrial band) and Death Grips.

Russian literature is a great fit for the winter. Dostoevsky spent 10 years in prison camp and exile, then he wrote books summing up the terrible woes of the human condition. In this one the narrator is a miserable wreck who has a terrible time, its a captivating trainwreck that I cant look away from.

I get into more details in the video.

Being in the prison can also be utilized positively; Dostoevsky proved it!

Thanks my very good friend @heymattsokol, it’s been a while.
