RE: Novels on STEEM - a new trend?

in #books7 years ago

Yes and now. Certainly not J.K. Rowling. She gets millions for whatever she writes. With steem, even if very successful, it's a few thousands. Let's say a book has 20 chapters and each posting gets $500. That's $10.000 - great for a small writer, so we see that happening. But very bad deal for J.K. Rowling, so we will not see that in the near future ^^
Additionally, everyone can read for free what is being published on the steem blockchain. But only members with Steem Power can upvote.
A third factor might be, a posting can only be monetized for 7 days. After that there is no money to be made by the authors.

hmm I aggree to some extent - it is not easy to maintain income from publishing. But it could be a part of the story, that a certain reward should be reached before releasing the next chapter even though that is undermining the Idea a bit. As I see it, the worst hurdle is the 7 days limit - but perhaps the author needs to think of a special type of story, that fits into the model? I just thought it could make more young people read some more - not just articles from journalists that are always political in some way.

Indeed. I'm not familiar with what kind of novel-writing is currently being published at steemit, but I'm sure there are some creative guys already trying to utilize that 7-day story model you mention. It's definitely worth a try to play around with that a bit.
