Indeed, it's a very tense couple of chapters, just like the one coming right after that :-) Poor Gania is of course the center of gravity of that whole episode... And I would feel pity for him, if he was not so obnoxious, vain and self-centered... I think he deserves those embarassments :-) hehe as for Nastasia, she terrifies me, and i would be petrified in front of her, just like the prince!
