My second book review for summer reading challenge.
I read Frozen in Time by Mark Kurlansky. This book reviews the outrageous idea of frozen food and how Clarence Birdseye did it. The book details Clarence Birdeye's early years of being an adventurer that traveled the world and over saw many medical discoveries. Not that he was a scientist but a gather of specimen. Clarence eventually ends up in Labrador. Which is a very cold place and such the ideas of freezing things begins.
I really liked this book and how it portrayed Clarence in a favorable light. The author kept it light and interesting and really didn't bog the reader down in to much detail. Just that Clarence helped to make the frozen food world as we know it today, what it is today. He was a visionary and helped make food easier to prepare and more affordable to keep. Without his vision of frozen food we may not have freezers in nearly every home today.
Thanks Clarence.
I give this book 8.5 book covers out of 10.
