I'm fairly obsessed with reading. I read everything I can get my hands on. It's a habit that I developed early on. I used to be able to do one book per day but have since scaled it back to only two or three per week. As a prolific reader, I come across a large number of inspirational books that I would categorize as great.

Some of the best business people in the world -- people like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Elon Musk -- are famed for voracious reading habits. It's how they built the massive knowledge base they needed to grow and develop in their fields. But if you personally can’t commit to reading dozens of books a year, commit to just that short list of books every entrepreneur must read. Here are seven of my own top picks to start with.

1. To Sell Is Human : The Surprising Truth About Moving Others

Sales has changed in the past 10 years: older door-to-door sales companies have gone out of business, and their practices seem outdated in a world where we can buy and research any product online. But still, 1 in 9 workers are in sales, amounting to over 15 million people. And the rest of us are also selling – not just objects, but ideas and techniques. We are persuading, negotiating, and pitching, like lawyers selling juries on their verdict or public figures selling their personal brand on Twitter. In fact, a study Pink commissioned showed that people spend 40 percent of their work time selling something

2.Dot Com Secrets : The Underground Playbook for Growing Your Company Online

Russell Brunson's book "DotCom Secrets" shows the importance of building a good sales funnel for your online business. This is what will drive traffic to your website and then push them through to make a purchase. The funnel is made up of various different strategies; a traffic strategy, a product strategy and a communication strategy. By fine-tuning these strategies you will create a funnel that leads customers from when they arrive at your website to profit for your business. This summary tells you exactly how to create this profit-boosting funnel by taking you through each step of the process with clear diagrams and concise explanations

3. The Millionaire Fastlane : Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime

MJ DeMarco is the founder of Limo.com and became a multimillionaire by the age of 33. In his book The Millionaire Fastlane he debunks the false claims of the traditional path to wealth. The author shows what you need to do to enhance your chances to get rich. The conventional way of going to school, attending university and then get a well-paid job in the corporate world will not get you there. There is a better way, and DeMarco shows us what it is

Here are 3 of the things you can learn from it:
  • Wealth stands for 3 things, but none of them is money.
  • At some point, you must make your income independent of your time.
  • Think like a producer, not like a consumer.

4. The One Thing : The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

The ONE Thing gives you a very simple approach to productivity, based around a single question, to help you have less clutter, distractions and stress, and more focus, energy and success. The majority of your results comes from the minority of your work. Your goal is to focus most of your time—every day—on the one, single activity that gets you the most results. Do this until it becomes a habit you don’t even have to think about

Think big. Act big (through thousands of small actions). Live big. You won’t have regrets when you do that.

Here are the 3 biggest takeaways from it:

  • You can figure out your long- and short-term priorities and goals with a single question.
  • In order to get focused, you have to learn how to say no.
  • Never sacrifice your personal life for work.

5. The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles

The War Of Art brings some much needed tough love to all artists, business people and creatives who spend more time battling the resistance against work than actually working, by identifying the procrastinating forces at play and pulling out the rug from under their feet

Is there something you’ve been meaning to create? Have you been yearning to start a business, write a book, learn to play the violin, develop the next hit app, start an innovative charity organization or push into a new market? You feel you have something significant to contribute or a burning desire to create… but you haven’t done it “yet”

Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art is a book about that thing that stops you from doing what you are yearning to do; about that force that stops you from achieving something you always wanted. It’s a book about The Resistance
