Please take some time today to celebrate the books in your life today, August 9th being Book Lovers Day. Not to be confused with World Book Day, which is in April.

Have you ever wondered how many books are there in the world?

• I cannot give you an exact answer as more and more books come out every day.
  Anyway, according to Google, which has a project to digitize all the books in the world, there are over 129,864,880 books. At least, that's the figure they came up with in 2010.
• Taking into account, that at least half a million books are printed every year, including e-books, today there are probably over 135 million books just waiting to be read.

How much time people actually spend reading?

Very little. The world's greatest book lovers live in Asia. Indians devote more than 10 hours a week to reading, followed closely by Thais and Chinese.
