Let My People Go Surfing / 『
I finished reading "Let My People Go Surfing" written by Yvon Chouinard, founder of an American outdoor brand Patagonia. It's the updated version of the one published around 10 years ago.

The author is an adventurer and care about the environment by nature. At the same time he has deep insight about management and related numbers and researches. It's simply astonishing that there is such a person. I wondered how can I live more responsively to the society, the environment etc. I didn't know that 2600L of water is needed to produce a T shirt. Many of these facts are introduced in the book.
But the book didn't make me feel down. Not only by reading how did they improve their business to be more friendly to the environment but also it was encouraging to read that we can keep the border between work, family and fun time vague, making something nice for oneself and friends can become a business, there are people who are fine to earn minimal amount of money to go for their adventures, some care the best wave (more than their work) the most etc. We tend to worry our future too much and just try to focus on work. But what is important in my life? What I want to achieve in my life?
I wish I could work on a project that pushes our society to a bit better direction. I'm still on my way organizing my thought ... and making holes on beans like a Zen practice. In the last part of the book food-supply crisis and agricultural problems are mentioned. I thought it's not a bad idea to push my bean necklace project forward and raise attention to these problems (beans are good source of protein, less impact to the environment, affordable for many people ...) ;) Now I seriously work hard on it and have an exhibition in the near future.
I agree @akipponn.. There is so much more to life than work and we just got to take a step back and reflect and do something about it. The word busy is overrated sometimes. I realized, no matter how tied up we are, if we can make a little time for something that is important to us, even if it is 30 mins a day, it is so worth it. It is always good to be involved in something that can help push our community to do better, even if it is the littlest of things such as recycling, separating recyclables and sending them to a proper recycling center, knowing they will be handled properly. I am always inspired and touched with people who sacrifices so much to make this world a better place. It is really good to know that there are many people like that out there. There is hope for the world 🌏 Thanks for sharing 😘
Thank you for your comment @marblely. Steemit also sometimes shows me there are many people living in their own life and make me rethink about my life. I wish good movements are accelerated in the upcoming decentralized future like we experienced with Internet 15-20 years ago (It had negative sides though ...) :)
And I like the idea doing something nice "30 mins a day" for the society and the world.
