My Newest Prisoner [Bonsai]
Who would have thought that something so beautiful...
... could so be causing so much horror under the surface?
Yes, the infamous #Trumpet-Vine. Watch as it bores through your garden soil and replaces it with barren lifeless hard-packed dust.
Invasive vines were spreading under the surface in every direction. To heal the damage that has been done, it will require some painful surgery to the landscape to remove the cancer.
After a recent heatwave, I finally found an overcast day to do some work on the yard. Here is a bit of the aftermath.
From this, to this.
From that, to that.
Just a little bit, becomes a lot! Almost lost the rose and the shrub.
Looks innocent. It laughs at me from beyond the grave. It knows, Winter is Coming.
It turns picturesque pathways into a war zone.
There is an old saying...
"Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." - Teachings of The Godfather
Without further adieu, meet the newest member of #teambonsai.
Let me introduce you my little friend...
ID: 0025
Nickname: Gmork, The Strangler, The Assassin Vine, Servant of The Nothing
Type: Trumpet Vine
Age: 1 month
Grown: #yamadori (I cut it from the root where it was growing as a sucker weed)
Last repotting: Never
Wired: Never
This little monster keeps growing and growing and growing.
There won't be much I can do to stop it.
If I feed the monster plant just a little bit, maybe this strange and unusual plant will start to attract visitors.
Future Plans
Firstly, this plant will NEVER be planted in the ground. It will spend the rest of its life imprisoned in a small pot so it can never torment Earth again.
Secondly, I plan to make it pay for the damage it has done. It has made my yard suffer, and as a fair consequence I plan to make it suffer.
I will use its own limbs to strangle itself into knots like the sleeves of a straight-jacket, just as it has strangled the life out of our trees. I will waterboard it the point of insanity. I will feed it the nastiest excrements, and only enough to keep it barely alive. I will peel its skin off with a rusted razor and blister its bleeding flesh under the searing gaze of an angry red giant. The insects will fester around it with pestilence and disease, laying eggs into its open wounds, and I will sit back and laugh.
Mwahahhahaha!
Oh my dear friend. You will be my servant from now on. I am your new master. You have no choice. Your destiny is mine to control!

poor tree will have a better life in a pot! hahaha
I am very afraid and cowering in the corner after reading your post...
haha. Nice post I love lots of pictures with projects. Also cool idea to keep this little devil in a pot.
Fear. The most dominating force, allowing rule by submission. My enemy will tremble before me.
Don't worry, you are not my enemy.
I always like to read your post for the fact that you often lay out the steps you have taken to prepare the soil and grow the plant from either branch and seed. and you show until it start to grow and get mature.
In between, you also share some tips to care for the plant.
Thanks for sharing once again
Cheers
