Bollywood film 'Toilet: A Love Story' was among the things that inspired Bill Gates this year

NEW DELHI: Hindi movie 'Toilet: A Love Story' was one of the things that inspired Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates this year, he revealed on Tuesday.

As "tough year" 2017 comes to a close, Gates, a man who is himself an inspiration to many, took to Twitter to share seven "inspiring" tweets with his followers.

The list included stories from around the globe, from a man called Edwardo Sanchez who became the first in his family to graduate college, to Bhutan and Maldives eliminateing measles.

And right there, on number two, stood Bollywood romance 'Toilet: A Love Story,' which "educated audiences about India's sanitation challenge."

Gates said that the tweets he listed "made me feel better about 2017 and more optimistic about the new year."
