I have sent a message to cm, re his presentation at the BOINC Workshop, after listening to his presentation from a very poor quality MP3 recording which was uploaded to Google drive after the presentation.

Here is what I messaged him:

Hi there customminer.. Ok, man bad quality recording .. I've listened to it all twice .. Your presentation overall gets an 8+ from me .. Well done .. certainly seems that there was a certain amount of antagonism from the gathering and you handled it well .. I was surprised considering the quality of the audience that you had to explain the blockchain .. The questions that you had to field were very interesting .. sometimes couldn't quite hear all the question details but it does seem that the subject of RAC and Benchmarking was the biggest one for me .. The questioner viewed his opinion well but my feeling was that he had an agenda behind it (it's a scientific problem) when he commented that Anderson goes to funders with inaccurate stats on Flops .. It inevitably led to 'cheating for profit' which seems to be an important subject for some .. I think you handled that well .. Couldn't hear the 'weed' subject maybe missed it 'cause of the recording quality .. All in all you can be proud of your presentation and hold your head high .. I know what it's like to brave the 'lions den' I've done it before myself .. Well done .. as far as I'm concerned we can learn a lot about how we are viewed by 'outsiders' from this and we need to put the lessons learned into practice .. keep networking and stress the solidity, diversity and quality of our community .. we are a valuable asset to BOINC and they need to know it and not judge us purely as a crypto currency leaching off them .. I believe that is the fight we have to fight that they are judging the book by it's cover .. sorry I wasn't there, I intended to be but frankly didn't have the funds available, my loss ..

I'm of the opinion that cm was brave to face this audience and I believe that he did a good job.

Frankly, he didn't have to do this and could have gone to the BOINC Workshop, stayed in the background, enjoyed himself and not represented Gridcoin at all publicly.

If he had not done the presentation it would have been a missed opportunity for us to improve our relationship with BOINC and their perception of us.
