After five days of searching, the bodies of the Kapuskasing couple who disappeared last Monday were found, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said Monday.

OPP emergency response team members located the helicopter debris and the bodies of its two passengers on Monday, March 11th.

The causes of the crash remain unknown. The Ontario Provincial Police and the Transportation Safety Board will investigate the circumstances that led to the accident , the statement said.

Jody, 49, and Nicole Blais, 47, had not given any news since their helicopter, a gray RobinsonR66, departed Sudbury for their home in Kapuskasing on Monday, March 4 at 6:44.

A friend of Jody's family and business partner, Gilbert Mondoux, sounded the alarm the following Wednesday after trying to reach Jody for more than 24 hours without receiving a response. He then warned the family of Jody, who reported the disappearance of the couple to the authorities.

The search began shortly after the report and mobilized the OPP, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) and the Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue Center (TSPR).

Many volunteers also participate in the research effort.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends!
