[BOATPILOT ICO] – A REVOLUTION IN YACHT NAVIGATION
How do you feel paying for services that work only partly? It is annoying, isn’t it? This is probably how most of captains who captain yachts feel like. The vessels they handle are probably the most advanced they have ever handled but it becomes a challenge navigating in certain parts of the sea mostly because of the navigation system that it comes bundled with. It’s like the equivalent of having a luxury car like a Mercedes Benz with a top of the line infotainment screen that only has maps to half of the areas in its locality. But it is hard to blame the companies producing these navigation systems. After all, there hasn't been a lot of great strides made in innovation in the yacht navigation sector. Most of what has been going on is the near equivalent of copy pasting directly from army navigation systems and commercial navigation systems directly to these luxurious yachts. It is like using a generic part in a luxury sedan.
Yachts are supposed to be these free vessels that you can use to go to destinations that are dictated by you but due to the navigation systems that are present in them; this may not always be possible. These navigation systems are not all that bad, in fact, most of the time; they get the work done as long as there is nothing new that is present in some of the existing paths that have previously been navigated. They also have some cool features too such as giving real time information about the weather. But there is still a need a more advanced system to meet the current technological age we are leaving in. We are making so many milestones elsewhere that having better navigation systems specifically designed for yachts should not be a problem at all. Nevertheless, it is a problem that the technological world is facing. There is however a silver lining in BoatPilot, a company that has noted the needs of the industry and is working smartly to develop a platform that will address the navigation challenges that captains of yachts are facing.
There is no better way to improve a system than by involving those who will use it every day. That is the first step that BoatPilot took. It launched an app on the Android platform and the iOS platform too. The application attracted over 50 000 downloads across these platforms. This allowed possible users of the application to have a glimpse of what is likely to be in the application and to give them an early platform where they can easily suggest changes that can be made to the original plan to suit the needs of these captains.
BoatPilot’s original plan is a great idea. They plan to roll out a system, first of its kind, which will give its users the advantage of updating areas where they visit with their vessels. This will be unique from all other navigation systems that are currently available. Most navigation systems use GPS and preexisting charts for navigation. However, BoatPilot will use real time updates of made by captains who will be using the BoatPilot application during their travels. There are many possibilities that can result from this; the most advantageous one being safer navigation of new and existing routes. The frequent updates will provide captains with enough knowledge required to carefully navigate any area that has been previously visited and the BoatPilot charts updated. This advantage can go beyond yacht captains. The application has the potential to grow into other vessels which can benefit greatly from the features it promises to provide. One of these features is the application of Augmented Reality in the BoatPilot application. You might be thinking, “What’s the use of augmented reality in navigation?” Well, if there is anything technology has taught us, your imagination is the limit to all things technological. BoatPilot is implementing AR to help captains navigate through waters even in poorly visible conditions. Through the use of AR, a captain could be able to navigate waters at whatever time of day or night in any weather condition that is safe navigating in. AR gives a 3D representation of whatever captains have uploaded into the BoatPilot system as the details they have collected about particular routes. If there are any notable manmade features or naturally occurring features that are noteworthy on the updated charts, they will appear as 3D images on the screens where captains will be viewing AR.
What is even more alluring about BoatPilot is that it offers its features absolutely free of charge. All one needs to do is have all the required equipment and software to use the platform. Only one hardware component is needed to run BoatPilot. It is known as BoatGod and as the name suggests, it acts like an overseeing hardware in that it is essential in connecting hardware from the vessel to the software offered by BoatPilot. Captains will be connected via the BoatPilot navigation system. This is what will be used to convert the data collected through the hardware. It will then be uploaded into the BoatPilot platform. This sort of integration will be a great leap in the seaway navigation field.
Another added advantage of the BoatPilot system is that it utilizes the fleets that are connected to its platform to give advertisers a chance to reach the members aboard these fleets. This could have great advantages in trade and other business opportunities for those businesses.
The BoatPilot platform will also have extra features that will be provided through the BoatPilot Skipper service application. BoatPilot expects a number of captains and fleet managers to join the BoatPilot platform. Having these numbers is not only lucrative to advertisers but it also means that BoatPilot has the opportunity to offer numerous services pertaining to the yacht industry. They could easily organize trips to different areas around the world using the vessels available within the platform. The vessels in the platform could also be put up for rent depending on the agreements the platform makes with the owner of the vessel.
The BoatPilot project is a revolutionary one that can change for the better the navigation system in yachts and other vessels. However, coming up with the BoatPilot platform is not an easy task. Putting up the application in the two most popular app stores was great but their needs to be a complete platform to back it up. This platform will require more than just hard work to build. Therefore, BoatPilot will be running ICO events that will help the platform raise the funds that are needed to develop this platform. There will be a series of the events starting with the pre ICO and culminating in the crowdsale. The crowdsale runs for one month from April 1st 2018 to April 30th 2018.
Navi tokens are what BoatPilot is going to use to raise the funds. They will be selling their tokens to prospective participants of the BoatPilot program and investors too. The Navi tokens will have a host of uses in the platform which include being used as incentives to encourage captains to update the Navi charts frequently through going for a number of voyages to different places. The Navi tokens will be redeemable. Users can use their tokens to get Ethereum. BoatPilot will want to ensure that the value of the Navi token rises to levels far greater than users purchase it for during the token generation events. The whole idea will be to create a large demand pool for the Navi tokens. BoatPilot has already planned how it will do this. BoatPilot aims to buyout most of the Navi tokens that will be in circulation in the platform. This will reduce the number of tokens available thereby creating a large demand pool for the tokens. BoatPilot also plans to have the Navi tokens listed in a number of exchanges to increase its demand and promote the growth in value of the tokens.
BoatPilot is navigating towards the future. You can be part of this voyage that seeks to forever change our understanding of waterways. You can take part in helping BoatPilot build their systems through participating in their token event. There are bonuses for early purchases of the Navi tokens; the earlier the buy, the greater the bonuses given. Navi tokens can be purchased via fiat. Once the crowdsale is done, all unsold tokens will be burnt. This correlates with the value increase policy that BoatPilot has for its tokens. You can purchase the tokens through their official website, http://boatpilot.io/. Steps to the purchase will be outlined. In case of any inquiry or any further information required about BoatPilot, you can read through their whitepaper on https://www.boatpilot.io/docs/BoatPilot_White_Paper_EN.pdf or through the material provided on their website.
