BMW looks for mobility services partners

The new chief executive officer (CEO) of BMW said on Sunday it is looking for partners for the mobility services venture it is currently working on and competing against rival carmaker Daimler.

“We would like to welcome additional partners in this area, which has great future potential,” said BMW chief Oliver Zipse.

He added that the company also aims to collaborate with partners including financial investments as options.

Car sharing, parking, and electric car charging are among the mobility services that BMW is developing.

BMW’s mobility venture head stepped down in September as investment capital disputes were reported.

Zipse also bared the company's plans to take Daimler’s spot as the largest luxury car producer in the world. However, it did not specify their target date of accomplishment.

“Of course the claim of a brand like BMW has to be number one. Sales volume is not the only yardstick here,” he said.
