How to convert wired headphones to Bluetooth?

in #bluetooth3 years ago

As a fan of headphones, you may have collected some nice wired ones since years ago. But as time goes, nowadays most modern phones don't come with a 3.5miimeter jack anymore. And Bluetooth headphones have become so trendy, making many wired old ones forgotten at the corner.

Wait…My Sony MDR-XD200 still sounds great. There is no reason to retire it or replace it with a fancy wireless one. A small Bluetooth adapter can already help us upgrade our oldie to modern Bluetooth headphones.

How does it work?

A Bluetooth adapter works as a receiver. It can pick up a streamed Bluetooth signal and pass it to your connected music playback devices, like a wired headphone we now talk about.

As most older headphones work with a 3.5milimeter jack (also known as auxiliary port). the specific Bluetooth adapter we need is a Bluetooth-Aux Adapter.

Different Types of Bluetooth Aux Adapters

Depending on your headphones, there are mainly 2 types of Bluetooth Aux Adapters.

Adapter with a 3.5mm jack

If your headphones come with a 3.5mm port to plug in/out the audio cable, you can use a Bluetooth Aux Adapter with a 3.5mm jack to directly plug in your headphone.

Adapter with a 3.5mm port

If the cable on your headphones is attached and can not be plugged out, it comes with a 3.5mm jack on the end. With this type of headphone, you need to plug its jack into a Bluetooth Aux Adapter.

So in this case, the Bluetooth Aux Adapter should come with a 3.5mm port.

As Comsoon Bluetooth Aux Adapter has a compact design and stylish look, it will look even nicer if we can attach it to headphones closer.

If your headphones have a 3.5mm port, you could connect them with the short male-to-male connector.

If your headphones have a cable with a 3.5mm jack, plug it into the adapter, then attach the adapter to the outer can or headband with tape/velcro. If the cable is too long, consider wrapping it around with a cover attached to the headband.
