Racism is Illogical
A great man once said "judge me not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character." Yet still to this day we still embrace the illusion of race. We continue to strive to judge people based upon appearance but not what is in their heart.
We do this in every aspect of our lives. That hot girl or hot guy having been blessed with good looks may very well be broken inside. Let's take me for instance. I am a bearded, fat, and caucasian male. I grew up in a rural area in Upstate New York. I have to specify because whenever I have told someone in my travels that I am from New York they always think I mean New York City. As if all of New York State is made up of NYC. I have however worked and lived in the big apple. I often found it hilarious that I was judged to be some "white" "redneck" by the very same people who claim that racism is bad. While it is true that I was raised in the country I do not think of myself as the proverbial redneck.
I still cannot wrap my head around how racism can still exist. Further, I cannot wrap my head around how we continue to allow this nonsense when the truth of the matter is there are no races. There are only people, humans if you will. Humans are terribly flawed creatures. We spend a tremendous amount of time and energy coming up with new ways to label ourselves and eachother. We also have a great propensity for violence against one another.
Why is it so difficult to find logic as "advanced" as we are? We have remained the same kind of creature for thousands of years. Our tools and our toys change but we are the same shitty little creatures we have always been. Little tribal piles of crap who behave the same now as humanity has behaved since we lived in caves. The strong prey on the weak and if you do not fit into whatever happens to be fashionable, you are unworthy of love or understanding. True compassion is as rare as common sense and it would appear that we are actually becoming more primitive in our behavior as our technology progresses.
It would appear that if we continue along this path we will surely destroy ourselves. Human nature is self-destructive and human nature has not changed even a little. To me that is amazingly illogical.
