My Blog Post Just Disappeared

in #blog9 years ago (edited)

I just completed putting the finishing touches on a blog post that took me over an hour to write. Getting the pictures centered, making sure that the sourcing was done correctly and reading thru for grammar and spelling.

I put in my tags and hit POST! Like always steemit took me to the home screen and my post appeared. It lingered on the page for exactly three seconds and then it went poof.

VAPORIZED INTO THE ETHER

No amount of hitting the back button or other resource helped me to find the post. It literally vanished from the blockchain.

Has anyone else had this happen to one of their blog posts?

Any chance the post shows up at a later date?

Happened to me a few days ago. Did you post it and then attempt to edit it? That's what happened on mine.

Nope, it hit the home page and then disappeared.

You can also use OneNote (Microsoft Application), as a "notebook / content holder." This should serve very useful when putting away valuable content you don't want to misplace. It's a great app, and it can even create links which can be used in Steemit posts. :D

Thanks for the tip @jaye-irons

That's irritating. Now, whenever I'm writing a blog, I just write it in word and then copy and paste it into the editor when I'm finished.

That's probably the play.

Glad to be somewhat helpful. :)

That happened to me once, not good. I write my posts in a text editor file and save the file. When I'm finished I copy and paste the content and paste it into the steemit editor. I tweak it in the editor and copy the content back to the text file so that I keep them synched. My text file is my backup and most important file.

I used to use this online editor but now that I'm proficient in markdown I no longer use it. https://markable.in/editor/

I hope this helps!

That process makes a lot of sense. I am changing my approach from here on. Thanks for the input.

Happy to help. If you ever decide to start another blog or build a website you've got your content in a safe place and ready to go. Just make sure that it's backed up.

I keep hearing this happens, I haven't seen that yet but man I hope I don't have it happen to me, I will punch my HDTV screen lol..jk. Sorry you went through that buddy, not cool to work hard and loose all your work.

Thanks by the way for the help with that fund raiser you did, just seen your SBD sent to the wallet, throwing it in with the rest of my dads huge stash now of BTC lol...I am jealous of him now. Giving him my Bitpay card tomorrow to pay on that fridge and we are all doing great thanks to you and everyone else. Got me a little SP out of it, tried to tell him if he needs more I can power down but he doesn't want it, just content with our help to not have that extra bill. Thanks again buddy, means the world to me

I kept telling people to upvote you, not me. I'm so glad that this fund raiser has helped your family out. Steemit is pretty incredible this way. My pleasure.

lol don't worry about it, hey you tried and that is all that matters. We made out right where we needed to be. That is all I can ask for is just what we needed. Now I can write again for myself and grow my SP again lol...everyone is stress free and now onto earning my second GTX 1080 GPU to double my mining for more SP lol. I have plans here, I am going up to the top, not playing around anymore lol. Thanks again buddy, my family is so happy right now, its weird to see them laugh so much lately.

I know you will get to the top.

I hope so, be nice to be free financial worries and just enjoy life in any way I want, get back to making music full time, blog and just travel around seeing the world. Takes work though, and I am just beginning lol

In reality, it's a numbers game. When you get to 2,000 followers, your good content will always climb. Climbing content will always attract others. Win, win, win.

I agree, I am seeing that a lot more since i got over 700 and it seems now they just show up daily lol. Slow days but hey I can' win it all the time. Just gotta keep on keeping on

Keep grinding it. Post when you can. It's a simple formula that I tell new people. Interact, engage, be polite, put out good content, reply to your replies, be consistent, rinse and repeat.

Okay dude. Here's what I do. I write my post into submit box. Then I paste it into word and proof-read it, and after the I put it into notepad to rid myself of the nasty formatting, and then I paste it back. If I lose it I still have two copies. Try that next time :)

That's my new plan! Thanks for the pro tip.

I lost one post that I was writing for an hour today. Had to re-write it all. Really sucks. Always make a copy, I guess... Steemit cannot handle all the traffic

I will be making a copy, for sure, changing protocol!

Thanks for the heads-up. I will remember to back my work up before I hit the POST button. Technical Difficulties....please stand by.

The fact that I saw it hit the home screen for a moment kills me. It was there, then it wasn't. Thanks @pixzelplethora

That sucks mannn... I had similar issue when i was blogger long time ago. Hope it comes back or get posted.

Me too. I guess I can always rewrite it. I'm thinking I need to copy and paste the body before I post, for safety.

Hasn't happened to me with steemit, but I had a post scheduled through esteem, and at the time of posting it and all my drafts disappeared.

They came back today! I'm blaming the bucket leprechaun, because you have to blame someone.
