With food, water, shelter and all our needs taken care of, people tend to begin to focus on trivial things that go “wrong”. When we acknowledge the true position of our life and realise the immense gifts that we have been given we can shift our perspective to one of gratitude and consequently one of selfless service.

There comes to a point where you recognise the beauty and privilege of living the life you have been given. Whether your circumstances are seemingly “bad” or “good” it matters what you do with them. From horrific situations people have had the ability to turn them around and help others.

By viewing your life as a blessing, no matter what is being thrown at you and by understanding that life’s ups and down are here for you to learn and grow your life will change.

Giving back to others through all that you have learned on your journey so far can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Everyone has their own histories, and once we recognise that we are not alone on this journey and that we can share and give our time and energy to others, life becomes more fulfilling.

Selfless service is about giving back to the world without expectations or intentions to receive anything yourself. By giving for the sake of giving, you are offering your heartfelt service to others.

So, if you feel drawn to connect and give back to a certain group of individuals, go full force out. Everyone in some way or another needs a helping hand whether it be just through a listening ear or through physical service.

Don’t forget to continue the cycle of gratitude and selfless service, to give and receive equally to maintain a harmonious balance in this world.
