Monday Morning Bathroom Motivation - Artist Unknown.jpg

Comfort and practicality go hand in hand a lot of the time in life. What is comfortable is practical, what is practical is comfortable. Take my upstairs bathroom for example. It is beautiful, it is flawlessly decorated and designed with compliments showered upon it (accidental pun). But it is not practical. It is almost too nice for anyone to want to use and mess up. Who wants to be the person who gets shampoo and soap all over the place so someone has to spend extra time cleaning a second bathroom? Not to mention the inconvenient location of the bathroom. No loud noise is able to be made in the mornings or evenings due to its close proximity to the bedrooms. And we all know sleep must not be disrupted.

On the other hand, we have our bathroom downstairs which is constantly used and abused because of its convenience and comfortability. A process which has been ingrained in each family member as they have learned to wake up and fall asleep in a method which allows them to habitually use this space. So take this analogy of these bathrooms and apply it to your everyday existence.

How many times have we seen that beautifully sculpted place or person for that matter and thought,

“Oh no, I don’t want to ruin that.. Let us just look at it and admire it, that’s not for me to part-take in”.

Whether it be with job prospects or relationship possibilities or just getting yourself out there, you’re stuck in the rut of the comfortability and practicality that is the ‘downstairs bathroom’. The downstairs bathroom could be your crappy job, your settling for less with your partner in your life, or the people you surround yourself with. But what happens when we throw out comfort and practicality for the possibility of disrupting our lives and taking a chance? Well endless possibilities happen.

This analogy has now moved far beyond the bathroom, (depending on your levels of creativity and maneuverability) into the realm of decisions. Staying comfortable and practical and convenient and easily accessible is by all means a choice you can make in life and quite often that is the easiest choice. What will take you above and beyond, move you into a dimension you have not been to yet, move you into experiences that shape and mould you into a person who others strive to be? What decisions can you consciously make now that will shape your future and your past?

Speaking on behalf of someone in their 20’s this choice is ever-more apparent now than it has been before. We are moving through an age of awareness and intellectual growth, where some may stagnant from now until their death and others may move and never look back again. It is in this period of time that you can make these conscious decisions of productivity and awareness for not only yourself but others, or you can stay stuck. After reading this you can make one of two decisions, settle for the path mediocrity your life may be taking you on, or use your strength, use your courage and move toward the future, making decisions in your life that will bring out the best and truest form of you all while shouting,

“Screw this, I’m using the upstairs bathroom!”

  1. haha you analyzed it too much but i like where you headed
  2. imagine what i get through with only 1 bathroom in the house...
''screw this i am using the balcony''

Haha, nice take! I guess it related to my house personally, but the analogy could be used with whatever features are apparent in your house.
