Ego's End (Original Poem):
She loved the sound of the ocean as its mist lifted her sorrows
She loved the touch of fallen leaves as she crunched her way out of trouble
She loved the exchange of mysterious smiles with strangers she’d never meet again
She loved the morning light as it creeped through her window frame to gently awaken her from her lion’s den
She loved the way her brothers held out their hands to provide for the family
She loved the smell of grass whose ends were freshly cut in synchronicity
So simple was the love she felt, so content she was, so grateful for the life she lived, she lived in time of wars
With guns and bombs and streets ablaze they beckoned at her doors
With soldiers in her mind they’d play a game of hide and seek your flaws
With deceiving politicians leading marches towards the gates of fiery ends
With wounded men surrounding hospitals, understaffed without amends
So here you have a story of a girl whose life has two paths to follow
A life of wholeness and serenity or a life of conflict and sorrow
For when you bid farewell to egos there will be no need for wars
You’ll find not only the immediate effect but also your ultimate cause.
