Learning how to adult is probably the hardest lesson to life
My partner and I just moved into a new house. Our first house together and my first house out of home. You would think we've got our shit together and all but I'm actually kind of having trouble with this #adulting gig.
Before moving in, I thought having the same work hours as your partner would be perfect! We both start at 8am and finish at 5pm Monday through to Friday and we both have the weekends free. Little did I know just how much of a disadvantage it really is. For example, and this is the main reason why I'm having trouble, daylight savings has finished here in NZ so everything gets dark at about 5:01pm 😤 (perhaps an overexaggeration but legit no later than 6pm its pitch black).
By the time we both get home from work, its already dark and cold so there goes gettin any washing off the line that weve hung out in the morning. I'm bloody running out of undies here guys!! SOS
I've never been responsible for more than making sure my room was tidy when guests were over so having a whole house to be accountable for is sort of stressing me out. Not only do I constantly check the rent account to make sure theres enough in there which there always is (phew) but also being in a rental home brings stress of its own - having to be extra careful that you dont wreck the house.
Theres brand new carpet in our lounge and I wash my feet everyday after work to make sure I dont get toejams on it hahaha (not saying I have toejams though 🙃 umm)
not my foot hahahaha source
Now I know how to cook, you know, your average spag bol or nachos, butter chicken or pasta, steak and eggs and all those other easy types a shit but damn when it comes to the dishes, I didnt realise I cant actually opt out of doing them anymore - "shotgun not doing the dishes, I cooked dinner" or even just rinsing and leaving them on the bench because I know my mum will eventually do them 😁 (love you mum).
No ones here to do the dishes, you gotta cook and clean girlfrand. Everyday. Everyday. Everyday.
you like what I did there 😉 hehe
Now I realise your all probably laughin at me and taking the piss because my troubles aint shit but hey - to each to their own. I know I will eventually learn the secrets of how to be a successful adult (like firstly how do you do the washing on a daily basis??) but I guess I gotta learn from my mistakes and take it as it comes. Ha! ....might not be wearing undies tomorrow 😂😂😂😂 jah jah.
And please dont even talk to me about children.
Way. Too. Soon.
If you've got any tips and tricks for me, any secret formulas or combinations you have - please do hooooooolla 🙋🏽
hahahahahaha
Welcome to adulting.........
I would strongly suggest marrying a Greek woman.
I used to have to do all my own washing, cooking, cleaning etc. But now i'm not even allowed to. (unless she is tired then I'll jump in and do it for her)
It takes some time, but you'll get into a routine and then you won't even think about it. the best advice is - don't put things off. Get it done and out of the way.
It will make for a much more relaxed day.
Thanks for the advice @trevor-george! I will keep that in mind, find me a greek woman you say huh? Well its a good thing same sex marriages are totally supported now aye! hahaha
adults are children acting wise.
Or its just me and I refuse to grow up:)
haha nice @markush! Refusal is key to never growing up, I kinda like it! 😵
I understand your struggle, because I found myself in there not so long ago haha :) We all get use to it eventually though :)Upvote
Thanks for the encouraging words @alexcote and cheers for the upvote!
I am glad my stumbling through adulthood brings more than despair and frustration 😂
Thank you!!
