My New Addiction...
It’s time for me to be truthful with you guys…. I have an addiction!
At first, I used it because it made me feel good… I didn’t need it, but I liked it. It was just a small hit here and there, I was doing it because of my new friends, I felt part of the crowd…
After a while it got harder to stay away, I started to need it, I spent my whole evenings thinking about it. Every night I went to bed and I wanted to fall asleep just so I could wake up and do it again…
My friends and family started to get worried… some of them sent me messages, they were concerned, some of them told me I should get “help”, the problem is that my addiction isn’t a normal thing, there are no specialists to help me with it…
I’m now some months in and it’s getting really bad, I’m trying to control myself! But sometimes I can’t, I end up using it and abusing it, it’s not like I can overdose on the substance…
I don’t know if anyone else can help me with this problem, I’m not the only one on steemit that uses and abuses this, of that I’m sure! I’ve seen some other people that have the same addiction I do… maybe we should start support groups like the AA, I really don’t know what to do…
I can’t stop…I can’t stop upvoting posts!!
I sometimes can stay away from upvoting people for 1 day, my voting power goes to 70%-80%, but then I go on an upvoting spree and it goes back down to 50%... People have told me to use busy and decrease the % of my voting power, but I feel bad when I do it… Even at 100% voting power my 100% upvote only gives 0.03$, that’s not much but it helps… at 50% it would give 0.015$ which is almost nothing!! And I feel even worse when I comment people’s posts and don’t upvote them!! And I’m not even going to start talking about upvoting the people that comment my posts… if I see any good comment on my posts I always check their content and upvote it if I think its worthy, otherwise, I would feel bad…
What I need is more SP, I need more SP so that I can decrease the % of each upvote and still give something that I think it’s worthy!
I’m not the only one with this problem, right? You guys have the same addiction too? Right? Don’t leave me hanging! We should start a support group… here, I’m going to start:

I want some Netflix!”
Maybe I should stay away from Steemit for a while, go back to the good old YouTube likes that weren’t worth anything! Nhaaa… I’m having too much fun on steemit! Sorry if I sometimes don’t upvote your posts for a while, it’s hard to upvote everyone…
I hope no one gets offended that I'm comparing upvoting with a drug addiction! Drug addiction is something that I'm very aware of, I had close friends that died because of drugs! Which is something that I've been meaning to write about but I don't know where to start...

The struggle is real, man. I feel your pain. I switched over to using Busy until my delegation got big enough that I could use the slider. Using the slider on Busy helped me get my voting under control. I used smaller amounts which weren't as valuable, but it allowed my VP to recharge from 14% up into the 90s. And that was while still giving 20ish% votes. That was a few weeks ago (maybe a month). Hope that idea helps!
The problem is that i feel bad when i give ppl a small % of my upvote... i'm going to wait for my SP to get to 500, hopefully by the end of the year i'll be able to do adjust it :)
I get it, man. The struggle is real. However, I think people appreciate something over nothing. And it's nice to be able to use the smaller votes to network. Then people see that you're not just commenting to get an upvote, that you actually are willing to give something. Just one opinion. You should do what you're comfortable with.

I know the feeling... it's really hard not to give something, especially since we make so many friends on steemit that create good content!
When I discovered busy had a slider, I couldn't contain myself. I didn't have a whole lot of SP then (still don't really), so I thought it would help to distribute it more.
But exactly how you described it happened. I only had so much I could divide before I was leaving less than $0.01. Although, it is possible to leave that before it actually gets to $0.000. Ginabot shows it out to three decimals, and people will leave $0.007, and so forth.
The only way to solve that problem, is to have more SP. And there's only a few ways to do that. Increase SP through posts and commenting and hoping that someone will upvote, investing (which is what I did), or delegations.
Oh, you could also set up some popular bot service and then power up the STEEM or SBD you earn. You could win contests or help steemcleaners, too.
Even though I'm now a minnow, I still find myself running out of VP even with 10-25% votes. It doesn't take long, and it doesn't take much. I'm hoping that the next level up, dolphin, will improve upon that greatly, but that's a long way off, since I can't reasonably justify more investing at this time.

This is the only option that i don't agree with, voting bots are ruining steemit if they keep going we won't see a future with steem
Winning contests has helped me a little, only invested 20 bucks into steem, don't want to spend money since i can create good quality content.
My problem with using the slider is that i feel bad when i give upvotes worth less than 0.00$, it's like i'm almost not helping at all!
I'm in full agreement with you regarding the bot services. Just listed them because they do exist and you never know who believes in them. :)
Not everyone has money to invest, at least not immediately, and it's still a risk, regardless. Last month or so has pretty much proved that.
As far as voting goes, we do what we can do. That's the way things are set up. I got to the point where it was either stop commenting or get some vote power. Unfortunately, it's still that way, just a little higher. I can't consistently leave the amounts I would like to leave because then I don't have enough for something else.
So, we do what we can until we can do more.

SIMMMMM , eu pensava que era só eu 😂 é muito difícil evitar fazer upvote, especialmente porque os comentários e outros posts merecem! É um bocado triste que não possamos fazer upvotes sempre.. podiam pelo menos aumentar o número de upvoted que se pode fazer sem diminuir muito o poder de voto 😱 Mas pronto.. Eu também tenho dificuldades em equilibrar os upvotes que faço com o meu voting power. Apetece-me fazer upvote em tudo :)
PS: o que é ‘busy? como se usa?
Busy é basicamente outra plataforma igual ao steemit mas com umas funcionalidades extra, a unica razão pela qual eu não o uso é porque não tem o nightmode que o steemit tem, o steemit em modo normal faz-me doer os olhos...
se eles aumentassem o numero de upvotes que cada um dá tinham de diminuir a quantia, se nao o preço do STEEM e do SBD iria diminuir MUITO, coisa que eles não querem

I have steemit addiction. I spend half of my day on steemit. And with the great @esteem app i am on steemit even during the boring office meetings. I simply cant resist checking the notifications.
I'm trying to control my steemit addiction, need to control it before it consumes my whole life, i need to study for college can't be on steemit the whole day!
I feel your pain, I often get carried away with upvoting too. I have it under control, I stop around at 80% VP. For me I use the slide, because a think a little is better than nothing.

Yes, I'm in the same boat my friend. I've got a massive addiction to the blockchain and pushing my music and art forward. It's the best addiction I've ever had tho. =)
