The biggest threat to the demise of this tree is the over-exploitation of commercial land in order to obtain its rare and expensive oil. As a result of this unregulated depletion, the area of ​​argan trees in southern Morocco shrank to only 600 hectares after covering 50 years ago, .

Argan tree lives longer than the olive tree, and has a tremendous ability to resist disease more than any other tree, since it almost hardly has any disease.

Although the most resistant and thirsty desert trees are alfalh trees, they have huge numbers of thorns that act as water reservoirs, but the argan tree has no thorns and is highly resistant to heat, is not affected by drought and lives normally in lean years.

The most famous and used part of the tree is the oil extracted from the nucleus of its fruit, which is the oil of the corners, and is used to treat skin, hair and in cosmetics, as well as in healthy nutrition and medical treatment.

The extraction of oil from the nucleus of the fruit of the pillars is difficult, where the outer shell is an obstacle to extract the oil, because it is soft and adhered to the nucleus, so that it is difficult to treat the nuclei to get the tonsil, so people used to unleash the goat to eat the fruits of the pillars, and then wait until the goat comes out what he ate In the form of waste to collect and extract the seeds from them because the goats digested without the outer shell because they are indigestible, while the nucleus remains polished without crust. However, after the analysis showed that the argan oil extracted from the fruits eaten by goats is contaminated with a bug called Brucella, the method was discontinued.

Argan oil is now extracted manually, requiring a hard physical effort by specialized women to extract it to break the nucleus and extract the amygdala, and the nucleus of the pillars is 15 times harder than the nut kernel. After the kernel is broken, the wood husks are removed and the almonds are heated or baked on the fire and then grinded with hand-made flours to grind the staff. The crushed dough is squeezed by hand to extract the oil, in the case of argan oil used for cooking. In the case of fresh argan oil, which is used for beautification, the almond is not heated and freshly grinded to extract oil from them.

In order to obtain one liter of this oil, 70 kg of arsenic is needed.
