RE: Find a Community You LOVE!

in #blog6 years ago

I agree with you. I believe community is a human need. I feel incredibly grateful to have found steemit because I have found "my people" and they are from all over the world.

I'm no longer limited to what I can see and touch outside my doors. I can make real connections with real people in this virtual setting. It's beautiful.

I cringe a little when I hear adults gripe about kids and their screens. These kids aren't just mindless zombies staring into lighted glass. They are connecting, learning, and socializing. When I was a kid and a friend moved away, I just never saw that person again. Now my kids are able to play in the park with friends and speak to them by skype when they get home.

I am so happy you found your community. I think we are best when we have the support of people we like and are comfortable with. I think many Americans like me are lacking community. Especially because our culture emphasizes individuality and we don't tend to live with extended family.

Lacking community can be so lonely. Thanks for sharing your story about how sweet it can be.

Yes! I've had some really insteresting talks with my grandparents (88,85 years old) and I've actually made them realise that, yes even though staring at a screen all day is not that good maybe, yet we are socialising more with friends, and people from all over the world then they did back in the day when they had the same age :)

That's awesome that you have your grandparents to talk to about things like this. I can't imagine how much they've seen change over their lifetimes.
