If Jesus Paid Taxes, So Should We

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

This post sparked from a comment I made on a post by @careywedler. In essence, a reply refuted my belief that the downfall of the public school system started with SCOTUS’ defending an atheist’s right to abolish anything God from U.S. classrooms, resulting in a majority upheaval of this nation’s views.

So, in response to the reply by @fundposhprincess, here goes:

I would love a world without taxation as much as the next person; but, it’s unscriptural; thus, it is what it is.

Jesus paid taxes. In Matthew 17: 24-27, He miraculously supplied a coin, and told Peter to go fishing, with the purpose of retrieving a coin to pay the taxes due. To further the point, He told believers to render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.

To bring this back to school taxes, ‘ideally’ these tariffs would be used for the educating of children. This includes supplying a whole lot of tangible things like books, buildings and salaries, etc. But, no matter how much money is doled out for monetary things, there are some things the richest of rich know, that money simply can’t buy. At the top of this list would be holistic well-being of the emotional and spiritual kind.

All the money/taxes in the world can’t genuinely nourish the soul of a child. Ask anyone who’s tried to buy authentic peace. There simply are some things the dollar just can’t buy. I know. I said this twice.

Today’s curriculum lacks the teachings of how to achieve inner-peace via holistic means. Thus, many children, as noted in the original comment, suffer from inner turmoil for which the ‘government’ solution continues to be Big Pharma in a bottle.

I agree many members of the cloth, and their flock will be judged on that Final Day for standing idly by and not pushing back against what’s most needed for whole living…spiritual matters.

I’ve served time as a classroom teacher and can say firsthand that the primary ingredient missing from the recipe of everything taught is…are you ready?…a spiritual divide with discipline. The majority of children have the conscience and ability to focus on learning; and a teeny-tiny handful can serve to destroy any hopes of this ever occurring without contention.

Realistically, you can’t blame a 5-year-old who bounces off the walls because the mother smoked crack during her pregnancy. And, yet, these innocents get a double blow to future hopes, when they enter the school system, and the remedy for being an offspring of a crack-addict, is to become a ‘prescription’ addict to suppress the affects of their birth-addiction.

In a nutshell, there is a cure that cannot be found in a bottle; and, yet this is the ‘cure’ for children who are diagnosed too frequently with disorders such as ADHD, when most often all they need, in many cases, is the freedom to run off/expend excess energies.

Unfortunately, no Christians, or any other faiths that I know of, are filling the streets, pushing for a return of prayer and inclusion of spiritual enlightenment in the school curriculum.

Best regards.

Peace.

I am not even touching this. I'll leave it to pastors to battle out; perhaps your husband can help the situation. If you believe Jesus mandated us to "render unto Caesar" to mean stfu and pay the piper, I am not capable of starting the discussion in order to persuade you out of your position. I have decided NOT to argue with any libertarians, Christians or otherwise once I became aware of Adam Kokesh's "Split 50!" plan. I will simply relocate to a state where Christians understand TAXATION IS THEFT. The other 49 states can choke on their statism..............

Dearest Jesus Christ: Please have Mercy on us.

Jesus threw a fit and flipped tables over when he saw the bankers of the day and taxmen mistreating the people!

@geneeverett With all due respect, in Matthew 21:12-13, Jesus flipped the tables over because the people were misusing the sacred and Holy Temple courts for inflated gains. This verse involves sellers of goods; and, no mention is made regarding "bankers...and taxmen."

When we quote the Bible, we must take care to not wring it for our purpose. God holds us accountable for such use.

Here's a helpful explanation found on the website SeedTime:

They were taking advantage of those who had traveled long distances to celebrate Passover.

Two things were essential for these foreign worshipers: an animal to sacrifice and Temple coins which local merchants would accept. There was probably nothing wrong with selling animals or operating a legitimate money exchange, but, according to Jesus, these particular vendors were a “den of robbers” who undoubtedly charged exorbitant rates, thus taking advantage of those who seemingly had no other options.

In addition, this response of Jesus is a great example of how to be angry and sin not! So, when people say getting angry is a sin, not so. It's how we release that anger that is important. Note that Jesus didn't harm the people, and/or cattle et al. He simply released His disdain on a few tables...lol...but not funny...serious business. These vendors clearly brought forth a side of Jesus that I don't recall Him showing anywhere else; so, clearly price gouging isn't a great idea under any circumstances. In today's society, it's actually illegal.

Peace.

Dearest Jesus Christ: Please have Mercy on us.

And, bring each of us to an awareness of truth, according to You.

Amen.

As an aside @fundposhprincess, if no one paid taxes things would deteriorate rapidly. Jmho.

Peace.

"things".... what "things"?

what it really boils down to is whether or not you agree with EVERY anarchoVoluntaryist on record when he or she says: TAXATION IS THEFT. I guess you will have to decide. ...or perhaps you already have. Plus, you have to decide who gets to be the one "ordained" to have this special privilege of attaining your property against your will. Does Christ ordain these people? Are we going back to the "divine Rights of kings"?

Again, take it up with your pastor or husband. 1Cor. 11. I already know that NO MAN has any authority to take something by force or fraud from another man. That defines THEFT, and God covers that in His 8th Commandment.... and perhaps the 1st Commandment, as well.

TAXATION IS THEFT

Nope...Most people joyfully pay this...nowhere near theft...but it's all a mindset. Stealing is taking without permission. Laws are to be respected, and taxes are part of the law. That's reality.

"things".... what "things"?

Without taxes we wouldn't have a military for starters...Children born in poverty would face starvation and zero healthcare services. Perhaps, you have a better plan than taxes.

who gets to be the one "ordained" to have this special privilege

GOD...

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. (Romans 13:1)

Continued prayers that the Light of TRUTH melt the hearts of every one as the Spirit leads.

Best regards.

Peace.

s.m. there are so many people on Steemit who would love to engage. I am simply not one of them. You keep signing out with "peace", and yet you continue to provoke argument and strife. Really? Have a nice day.

keep signing out with "peace", and yet you continue to provoke argument and strife.

I end with Peace; because, that is what I pray for everyone I encounter. It's more precious than the greatest riches.

I leave you with words from Jesus:

Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.(Matthew 10:34)

Jesus was quite a controversial figure; because, He and His Father were/are ONE. People wanted things their way; and, when He spoke the Truth, He was falsely accused of many things.

Best regards @fundposhprincess..and yes, as always...

Peace.
