General Aspects Of The Film:

Wonder is an American comedy and drama film. Directed by Stephen Chbosky (Author of the novel "The perks of being a wallflower"). Based on his homonymous book. of 2012 by the author Raquel Palacio.
The main cast is composed by the talented Julia Roberts, by Owen Wilson as her husband by Jacob Tremblay as their youngest son.

The film premiered on November 17, 2017 in the United States.

Plot:

Auggie Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) is a boy between 10 and 11 years old who was born with a facial deformity known as mandibulofacial dysostosis. Due to this condition and the numerous surgeries he was subjected to since birth, his parents decided to home school hi. His mother (Roberts) takes the responsibility of becoming his teacher that way neglecting her career and professional studies. His father (Wilson) tries to be present and provide support in everything else , in the same way his older sister (about 14 years old) tries to assist her family by avoiding any inconvenience and stepping aside so that her parents won't need to worry about anything else other than her little brother. , in solitude when she needed guidance from her parents and behaving like a more mature girl than the others kids her age, and not allowing herself to make mistakes, so that she won't become an burden to her family.

Main Conflics:

♦As the main conflict in the story we have Auggie's dissatisfaction with his physical appearance. The child feels bad about all the marks he has on his face. He feels uncomfortable because of the reaction other people have when they see him, mainly children, because children tend to be much more cruel and don't know how to hide their emotions as well as adults . For this reason Auggie has not many relationships other than his own family and his sister's best friend.

To feel better when he goes out, he wears an astronaut helmet that was given to him on Christmas. He hides his face behind his disguise and that way he can socialize better, however, he does not have much interaction with others, since wearing a costume all the time also makes him a "weird" child to the eyes of other kids.

His struggle to fit in leads him to attend for the first time ever to a real school, where he will have to learn to ignore the comments and mockery of other children and to believe in himself and his abilities. He must learn to socialize and connect with other children his age.

♦ Another conflict that occurs in the story is that of Auggie's parents and sister who are trying so hard to help him live as normal as possible and be able to fend for himself and be able to have a quality of life just like any other child. his age. They do not want to see him suffer and that is why they sacrifice their own lives.

♦ A third conflict that can be appreciated is the loneliness that Auggie's sister feels when she feels that her needs are less important than the needs of her younger brother. She tries to spend most of her time trying not to be a burden for her parents, but that leaves her feeling more and more alone. Via also dealt with the loss of his grandmother, who offered her more attention and companionship than her parents could offer her. Via's best friend no longer speaks to her without an apparent reason and now he has absolutely no one to turn to.

Via feels disconnected from her mother. She dreams of having a close relationship with her and be able to talk to her about all the changes that she is going through as a teenager.. boys, etc.

Opinion And Rating :

The movie in its entirety is beautiful. Beginning with the fact that all the actors and actresses in it are of quality, including the smallest of roles.

If you have not seen a movie before this one with Jacob Tremblay in it, this 11 years old Canadian boy , with several awards and nominations in his belt, including a Critic's Choice Award for his performance in "Room" of 2015. (Oscar winning film for best leading actress, for Brie Larson.) I recommend you to look for more information about him and the great career that he has in spite of his young age.

I should also mention that the acting skills especially stand out on member like Izabela Vidovic, who plays Via, Auggie's older sister, Noah Jupe, who plays the new and best Auggie's friend, and Bryce Gheisar who plays Jullian, one of the bullies that makes Auggie's life impossible in school.

The chemistry among all the actors is also remarkable.

What in my opinion is the most beautiful and special thing in this film is the message it gives the viewer. Accept yourself, love yourself and believe in yourself. This message is very well distributed, because all the characters in the film (of all ages) deal with self-esteem issues. The film speaks of self-love from many points of view. Talks about the sense of humanity and our way of relating to others and empathizing with others and putting ourselves in their place to understand them better and connect with each other.

This film, despite having as main casting children between 10 and 15 years, is a family film in which there is something for all ages and it is very easy to feel identified and relate to a character. Either with the parents, with the sister, with the friend, or with the teacher. etc etc.

I would definitely see it again . I give it a score of 11 out of 10. (10 out of 10, to sound professional, lol).

Did you see this movie? What did you think? Would you see it again? What rating would you give it?

I leave here the trailer of the movie, in case you have not seen it yet:

Your writing it great, Kat! Is Spanish your first language? Your English is great!

I'll try and check out the movie, I like Chbosky's work and I'm a fan of this film style. Good work :)

Hi! Thanks a lot for reading the review! It means a lot to me!
I do know that Chbosky has been writting screen plays for a very long time.. i did not know he was directing too.. The thing I know him the most for is because he wrote one of my favorite books “The perks of being a wallflower “ They even also made a movie of that one too, starring Emma Watson and Logan Lerman.

Spanish is indeed my first language. Thank, I do my best to do good in English too lol!

Haha, well your English is better than mine :)
