Don't get me started on traffic.
We humans could be forgiven for considering ourselves to be an intelligent species. After all, we've put a man on the moon, successfully transferred a heart from one human to another and have created wonders of art and music capable of moving others to tears (Justin Bieber anyone?). And in all that time, not a single intelligent life form from Earth or indeed the rest of the universe has even gotten close to anything we've done. Take that you stupid butt-probing aliens. Earth 1, green losers 0.
But through all these accomplishments of mind and machine, the solar-powered engines and nuclear bombs, I am still unable to drive from my place of work to my place of study anywhere close to 8 a.m. or 5 p.m. lest I arrive in a blood-curdling rage, leaving behind a trail of abused pensioners spluttering along in their non road-legal 1955 Toyota Corollas after receiving a barrage of horrendous insults capable of causing Gordon Ramsay to blush. I don't know what it is about traffic, but it just makes my blood boil. How can we have progressed so far as a species in so many regards, yet still put people's lives at risk (mainly if they're in close proximity to me, to be fair) on a daily basis commuting via the main form of transport?
Instead of trying to put a man on Mars, put a bloody man at slow intersections with an automatic machine gun and instill the fear of God (and Kalashnikov) in them. Maybe a few well-placed bullets will remind those drivers who last took their tests when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was still a powerhouse of Europe just how to use an indicator, or how to move out of third gear on a highway.
Lol, it's funny when you say that despite our advancement you still experiencing traffic from your place of work to study. I believe with the flying taxis now in Dubai, the traffic situation will be reduced drastically. Great post
