From my experience the steem is popular due to its rewards curation and collaboration with writers programmers investors Application . collaboration about on a specific topic that either the investor product program or the investor writings. And Yes it is fun as I explored some of it.
And Honestly it feels less as curation is the only goal yet it is fun .
It is true if you ve read the article that even how gooder is your content you still need to invest to earn and become popular .
And due to its limited actions all on steem posting are just voters or something bots or just for rewards than fun commenting or community .
