A spot on my map #2: here comes one of the letters B, BAN KRUT! Wow!, just the name! 😁 It is so funny its sounds like bank rupt 😁
Ban Krut 2017
I think it was kind of two or three years since I first heard the name on one of my countless dates with Google. I can sit for hours and check out various forums and read about different places I'm curious about, and Ban Krut was such a place that stuck with me, not only because of the cool name, but the descriptions about the place felt so right. We have been to Thailand many times but there has always been somewhere else on the map we where headed.
This summer we met a bunch of lovely people from Borlänge in the north of sweden when we were out with our Mobilehome 😊And most of them also used to hangout in Thailand for a little longer during the winter months. One of the couples even used to rent a house in Ban Krut and we talked about the coincidense and we made a promise that if we where passing by we should come and visit them, and so we did.
When the minivan stopped at the small turningarea in a carbonblack Ban Krut and we both tangeled us out a bit travelmushy with our luggage. I fell immediately in love, when I looked around and saw the little lighted simple shops, the boys with their beer in front of the minimart and the little lazy atmosphere I felt SHIT I am at home.
Despite the darkness and the uncertainty about where we were heading, I almost jumped up and down in eager to have arrived, the mouth went from ear to ear smiling 😄. We started the map app on the Phone and Put the backpacks on our backs now we would find "our" guesthouse. It became a quite long walk accompanied by some dogs who had their own chosen revir as we passed.
But the streets were not that many and not so long so soon we were installed in our colorful guesthouse and still in eager to se our neighborhood, so we throw in our backpacks in the room and out we went again in the dark night.
On the other side of the road there was a small beachbar owned by the son of our landlady, where the atmosphere was warm and loud, a lot of people, and friday feeling so we settled down and felt at home immediately.
Here in the village there are some driving spirits who have started something called "Trash hero Ban krut" (also available elsewhere) trying to contribute to a cleaner environment, there are recyclable bags instead of plastic to choose, you can buy an aluminum bottle and in return you get free water refill instead of buying plastic bottles.
Once a week a bunch of people gets togheter and pick up garbage on the beach, it have a purpose to get two in one, 1. to make the locals aware of the environmental problem, and 2. get the beach clean, like the saying that "one can not do everything, but everyone can do something" (So of course we were there at 8.00 AM waiting for our trashbags and to start picking 😴😁)
Ban krut feels just as cozy as I expected, it's big enough, enough with palefrogs like us and close to water. There is, however, a small nail in the eye ... or should I say a stye maybe ... today it's blowing, maybe not a storm, but at least very much .. not to say a hell of a lot, i'm holding my fingers and my flipflop croocked toes hoping it's a coincidence ... but from experience, i know that this coast can be a bit "windy" this time of the year.
Have a nice day 🌺❤️☮️
